We answer some of your cycling questions

  • Three main things set WRA apart from the rest. The first is our service model. With Christian at the helm of all WRA training, regardless of your primary coach or service level, quality is guaranteed. The second is that all of our coaches are full-time, keeping them flexible and available for communication. Finally, WRA is the sole operator of Belgium Racing Experience. Since starting the program in 2011, our understanding of Elite Development and the ability to guide athletes into the Professional ranks is unparalleled in the United States.

  • Eight (8) weeks is our minimum recommendation to start preparing for an event. Keep in mind eight (8) weeks is just enough time to get you into shape for finishing an event, and is not enough time to “fill the holes in your game”. The more time you invest, the better your return!

  • Realistically, the minimum training time to keep up with your physiological potential is about eight (8) hours of scheduled training weekly. The typical maximum for athletes with careers, academics, S/O’s, and/or kids is about thirteen (13) hours of scheduled training weekly. Every WRA plan is built with your schedule, your availability, your goals, and your physiological needs front and center. This maximizes our chances of “winning” every week! The majority of our athletes find that they actually have more free time with WRA than before, and typically academic or professional performance improves along with on-the-bike ability. WRA represents a passionate community and expert Staff that are totally focused on setting you up for success on and off the bike, no matter how big or how small your goals are. Joining WRA is an investment in yourself, and you’re worth it!

  • While racing is WRA’s bread and butter, The Process for Success is the same no matter what your goals are! WRA is here to help you reach your full potential on and off the bike. Many WRA family members start their journey with goals such as weight loss, fondo or endurance event completion, or finishing the group ride with the group. Others may simply want to get into better shape with a little guidance and accountability along the way, and we’re here for that too! No goal is too big or too small!

  • Yes! Both off-the-bike and on-the-bike nutrition are vital to health and performance. While WRA doesn’t offer meal plans, we work closely with our athletes to build their understanding of what a healthy sustainable diet entails, develop event-specific nutrition strategies, and help each athlete achieve their weight goals.

  • No sport-specific training program is complete without strength work, and cycling is no exception! WRA strength routines focus on mobility, fundamental athletic ability, durability, and imbalances in cyclists.

  • You do not need a gym membership! While most WRA strength work consist of bodyweight movement, you will need a 25-35 lb kettlebell pretty quickly. WRA makes specific equipment recommendations and targeted programing as needed!

  • In short, no! You WILL need a head unit (Wahoo, Garmin, etc.), free TrainingPeaks account, and a heart rate monitor (chest strap preferred). Christian Williams has produced Championship-Winning Training Plans since before the advent of power meters, in addition to being one of first to adopt the technology in the early 2000’s. With or without a power meter, you can be successful with WRA.

  • Nope! Your coach will help you identify which bikes and surfaces will be optimal for your event preparation. WRA will not mandate that you ride on the trainer. The only exception to that rule is if your smart trainer is your only power meter (even then it would only be once a week).

  • WRA uses a simple one-page agreement to outline our policies around payment due date, injury and hardship protection, and stopping service. You can view the Standard Agreement here. Standard service with WRA is month-to-month with no commitment.

  • You will need to create a Bill.com account to pay your WRA invoices. With Bill.com, you can pay your monthly invoice without any processing fees via Direct ACH. All WRA Services are billed monthly, and payment is due in advance of service (first of the month). Invoices go out via email 10 days out from the end of the month. There is a one-time New Athlete Initiation Fee ($85) on your first invoice. WRA does not process payments directly and will never debit your bank account unless you opt-in to autopay via Bill.com.
