May of 2017 marks the 46th annual Iron Horse Bicycle Classic. New for this year, a training plan specifically designed for the grueling challenge is available. Whether you're a first-time Iron Horse participant, an experienced racer going for a top result, or a dedicated rider just looking to improve your time or finally beat the train, let the 2016 Iron Horse Bicycle Classic Champion and Williams Racing Academy coach, Payson McElveen, help you achieve your goal.
Payson fought for his current standing as the 2016 Iron Horse Bicycle Classcic Champion after an epic two-and-a-half hour battle with legends Todd Wells, Ned Overend, Ben Sonntag, and Christopher Blevins. As a Fort Lewis College alumnus, Payson has spent the last five years living and training in the mountains of Durango, CO, and he knows exactly what it takes to plan and prepare for success. He’s recently won races in Mongolia, Puerto Rico, and all across the United States. Earning a degree in Exercise Science from Fort Lewis College, 4 years coaching for Williams Racing Academy, and 14 years learning from his renowned coach, Christian Williams, has provided the expertise necessary to help a wide range of cyclists meet their goals.
For the 2017 IHBC, Payson and Williams Racing Academy have put together a training plan to help you achieve your goals May 27-29th. Your plan will be meticulously crafted, and honed with the exact requirements of the 47 mile ride in mind. Your training and progress will be analyzed and discussed via phone or email with Payson on a monthly basis. While we do recommend the full 7 month build for your best result, plans can also be purchased on a monthly basis.
